A little to extreme?

Rep. Kennedy yesterday proposed a lifetime ban on lobbying by members of Congress.

While reform is needed, a lifetime ban may be too extreme. I think a five year ban is much more appropriate. It would be unfair to tell someone they can never have a certain job. Would this proposal include members who have served as little as one term?

Besides, Abramoff was never a member of Congress.

A better idea would be to create stiffer penalties for accepting bribes, which is where the real problem lies.
